Residents of central California are facing a red flag warning with experts urging residents to be ‘ready to leave’ at any time.
A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are expected due to thunderstorms and gusty, unpredictable winds. Areas under the fire watch warning include Shasta County Mountains, Southern Cascades, and Burney Basin.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection wrote on X, “A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of interior Northern California through Tuesday evening due to thunderstorm activity and gusty winds. These conditions dramatically increase the risk of rapid wildfire spread within the Northern coastal range. Do your part by avoiding activities that could spark a fire and by preparing a go bag.”
