CA law requiring 988 suicide hotline on student ID cards to support mental health needs

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — A new state law is helping to make mental health support more available for students.

Senate Bill 1063 went into effect July 1. It requires public and private schools in California with 7th through 12th grade students to print the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number on student identification cards.
