(KRON) — A man was arrested Wednesday for breaking into a Santa Cruz woman’s home and attempting to sexually assault her while she slept, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.
The woman allegedly woke up around 11 p.m. Tuesday and found a stranger assaulting her. The man ran from the home in the Effey Street area and the woman called 911.
“Responding officers quickly arrived in the area and established a perimeter around the neighborhood in an attempt to capture the suspect,” Santa Cruz PD said. “… Despite efforts that spanned approximately two hours, the suspect was not located.”

Santa Cruz PD detectives reviewed surveillance cameras and identified the suspect as 24-year-old Lennon Koshlaychuk. Koshlaychuk recently moved into the Seabright neighborhood and is thought to have hid inside his home following the attack, Santa Cruz PD said.
