California: Alien Labs Cannabis Flower Recalled Over Mold Contamination, Sold Across Multiple Counties

The California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) issued a mandatory recall today for a batch of Alien Labs flower due to contamination with Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger, two mold species known to cause serious health risks when inhaled—especially for individuals with weakened immune systems or respiratory conditions.

The recall, announced today, affects a single batch of Alien Labs’ “Zangria” flower packaged by 2JC LLC under license number C11-0001367-LIC. The product was packaged on or after April 30, 2025, and sold starting that same day. It comes in a 0.5-ounce container with the batch number MER-05-121724-RRE-1F and UID 1A406030003D2EB00003473. Products from Alien Labs were also recalled last month.

According to DCC’s notice, the product tested positive for microbial contamination and should not be consumed. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the product and dispose of it safely or return it to the retailer. Anyone experiencing symptoms or adverse health effects after using the product should contact a healthcare provider.

    • Honey Oil Collective

    • March and Ash Sabre Springs, Inc.

  • San Francisco County:

    • Purple Star MD Collective

  • Contra Costa County:

    • Firefly Health Corporation

Licensees with recalled product in their inventory will be contacted by DCC or the distributor with return instructions. The agency urges all affected businesses and consumers to review product UID and batch information to determine if their product is part of the recall…
