The San José Police Department has brought a suspect into custody in connection with the city’s 16th homicide this year. The incident, a shooting that resulted in a fatality on the 1300 Block of Santee Drive, occurred on Sunday. Responding officers found an adult male victim with at least one gunshot wound, and despite the swift action of medical personnel attempting life-saving measures, the victim passed away after being transported to a local hospital.
After an intensive investigation by the SJPD Homicide Unit, 29-year-old San José resident Enrique Lira was identified as the primary suspect in the case, and a warrant for his arrest was obtained. Two days later, Lira was located and arrested by the SJPD team with the assistance of the Covert Response Unit.
