(KRON) — For the second year in a row, San Jose has been named the most expensive housing market in the U.S., according to a recent study released by SmartAsset. As of May 2025, the median home price in San Jose is $1,626,041, a slight increase from last year.
Behind the South Bay city is San Francisco with a median home price of $1,181,211, according to SmartAsset. Both San Jose and San Francisco saw more than a 30% median home price increase since 2020. The former’s median home price five years ago was $1,177,500 (38.09% change) and $890,000 (32.72% change) for the latter.
