(KRON) — Firefighters in San Jose are responding to a grass fire in East San Jose in the area of the 15800 block of Rica Vista Way. As of 12:43 p.m., forward progress had been halted on the fire and crews were transitioning to mop-up. Cal Fire air resources were being cleared while ground crews remained on the scene to assist with mop-up.
The fire, according to the San Jose Fire Department, had grown to three acres with a rapid rate of spread.

“Great work by crews to prevent damage to nearby structures,” SFFD said.
Earlier, structures were threatened, and people had been advised to avoid the area.
