Child care is broken. Bay Area power couple’s PBS documentary ‘Make a Circle’ shows why

In the world of documentary filmmaking, Jen Bradwell and Todd Boekelheide are one of the Bay Area’s premier power couples.

She’s a first-call editor with more than 15 feature docs to her credit, including the Emmy Award-winning “Time For Ilhan” and Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s “Fair Play.” He’s a prolific film composer whose music is featured in acclaimed productions such as “Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse,” “Ballets Russes” and the recent “Vivien’s Wild Ride.” They know as well as anyone that making a documentary is often a Sisyphean undertaking.

“We’ve seen so many directors struggle with self-doubt and fundraising,” Bradwell said. “There’s so much anguish. Who in their right mind would sign up for that?”…
