Second Harvest set to open new San Jose HQ in 2027

SAN JOSE — As construction on a new San Jose hub begins, Second Harvest is eyeing 2027 as the year it will open its new headquarters to serve the community at a time when the food bank is running out of space at other locations.

Along with its future headquarters, the food bank’s new complex also will include a warehouse and distribution center at 4553 and 4563 North First St. in the Alviso district.

“The new 215,000-square-foot facility will enable Second Harvest, one of the largest food banks in the nation, to unify most of its operations, which currently run out of three locations, under one roof,” the food bank stated in an email sent to this news organization. “The organization will be able to distribute more nutritious food to more neighbors facing food insecurity, respond swiftly in times of crisis, and ensure the food bank remains a reliable source of support for the community.”
