In a recent crackdown on organized retail crime, San Ramon Police Department’s (SRPD) Organized Retail Theft Suppression Team made strides by arresting two individuals linked to a series of thefts from Safeway stores across the Bay Area. According to a post from the San Ramon Police Department’s Facebook page, the perpetrators were caught after pilfering a hefty sum of goods from a Safeway in San Ramon.
The investigation revealed that the duo was responsible for five thefts in San Ramon alone, accruing nearly $9,500 in losses for the business. Further digging exposed their connection to 43 additional thefts from various Safeway locations throughout the Bay Area, leading to losses upwards of $14,500. The SRPD, in alliance with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, has charged the involved parties with 12 separate felony charges related to these incidents of theft.
