San José Vandalism Spree Ends with Arrests of “GOOB”, “2LATE”, and “STAPLE” Suspects

The San José Police Department has put an end to a nearly two-year spree of vandalism in the South Bay area, led by vandals known by their tags “GOOB”, “2LATE”, and “STAPLE”. From July 2023 to April 2025, investigations identified the suspects behind the monikers responsible for over 100 instances of graffiti, which have marred commercial, public, and private property. At the heart of these activities were Sebastian Rodriguez, 23, from Los Banos, and Brandon Arreola, 26, from San José.

According to the San José Police Department, Rodriguez, aka “STAPLE”, was believed to have been involved in at least 17 incidents in San José. Evidence collected from his place included not just graffiti paraphernalia but also a firearm. Arreola, known as “2LATE”, was linked to no fewer than 14 occurrences, with authorities retrieving a cache of spray paint and graffiti tools from his residence. Both suspects were apprehended last week, Arreola in San José and Rodriguez in Los Banos, with law enforcement executing arrest warrants swiftly to bring the two to account for their alleged crimes.

Santa Clara County Jail became the new residence of these two individuals as they were booked for felony vandalism charges. “Graffiti, no matter the content or the artistic talent of the person responsible, is a crime against someone else’s property,” stated Chief Paul Joseph, per the San José Police Department. “It damages businesses, neighborhoods, and public spaces, and it costs our community millions. Our officers put in the work to track these vandals down, and now they’re facing the consequences. If you tag our city, expect us to come knocking on your door.”…
