VTA Highlights Two Completed Projects on Its Light Rail System This Summer

SAN JOSE – VTA recounts its summer maintenance efforts across its light rail system.

According to VTA, its light rail system is coming up on 40 years of service and is in need of ongoing maintenance work. Over the summer, crews worked to complete two milestones for the agency.

At Woz Way/San Carlos Junction in June, crews worked to realign the track junction and overhead power system. VTA states this work also prepares the area for “future service options, such as a Santa Teresa to Winchester route.”

In July, crews worked on a grade crossing at Capitol Avenue and McKee Road. The crossing was replaced with a new design that is built “to handle both trains and heavy street traffic for nearly 40 years.” Both projects are part of VTA’s 2025 rehabilitation efforts.
