A small aircraft crashed Friday afternoon in the remote hills east of San Jose, leaving one person dead, officials said.
Cal Fire’s Santa Clara Unit received a call at 2:30 p.m. reporting a possible crash about five to seven miles east of Mount Hamilton, Division Chief Ed Orre said. Crews dispatched helicopters and ground teams to search the rugged terrain.
