A 37-year-old motorcyclist died after slamming into a car that crashed on Highway 17 early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The car, a 2012 Nissan 370Z, was headed north around 5:20 a.m. when the driver veered off the highway and crashed into an advisory sign north of Santa’s Village Road in the Scotts Valley area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The car then struck a call box, ending up in the fast lane, and the driver fled the scene, the CHP said.
Soon after, the motorcyclist, also headed north, rear ended the car, the CHP said, adding that the impact threw the rider onto the road. Paramedics tried to save him, but he died at the scene…
