San Jose Resident Charged After Deputies Find Unregistered Firearm During Half Moon Bay Traffic Stop

During a routine traffic stop on Sunday in Half Moon Bay, San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies uncovered more than reckless driving. They found an unregistered firearm and two loaded extended magazines. The incident occurred after deputies responded to reports of a vehicle driving erratically from I-280 to Highway 92, approaching Half Moon Bay, according to an official release from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle, after being stopped at around 12:45 PM, housed three individuals. Deputies found the driver to be an unlicensed San Jose resident. They issued a citation and released the driver to a family member who took possession of the vehicle. Traveling with the driver, an uncooperative 18-year-old, Isaac G. Lopez, also from San Jose, resisted arrest when he refused to leave the vehicle.
