Seven suspects arrested in violent smash-and-grab robbery at San Jose jewelry store

Nearly a month after a driver slammed a car through the front door of a San Jose jewelry store — unleashing a swarm of robbers who smashed display cases, assaulted an elderly man, and fled with thousands of dollars in merchandise — police have arrested seven suspects linked to the robbery, police said.

San Jose police said over 10 suspects participated in the Sept. 5 robbery that drew international attention after video footage showed the mob of robbers wielding hammer-like objects raid Kim Hung Jewelry and shove its 88-year-old owner to the ground.

Police said they obtained arrest and search warrants and apprehended the suspects across six cities in the Bay Area over the course of two weeks…
