Tesla faces a lawsuit after a robotic arm knocked a worker unconscious and pinned him to the ground

FREMONT, Calif. — A Tesla worker who says he was attacked and injured by a humanoid robot at the company’s Fremont plant is suing the tech giant.

In a recently filed lawsuit, veteran robotic mechanic Peter Hinterdobler says he was working a late-night maintenance shift in February 2025 when the “Optimus” humanoid robot unexpectedly activated, knocking him unconscious and then pinning him to the ground with an estimated 8,000 pounds of counterbalance weight.
