(KRON) — A Woodside man convicted of two counts of vehicular manslaughter was sentenced Monday to 11 years in state prison, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said 51-year-old James Morton Worthington was driving intoxicated on June 21, 2023, when he drove off Highway 35 and struck a tree, killing his two passengers.
On August 21, Worthington pleaded no contest to two counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and admitted to sentencing enhancements of bodily injury to more than one victim and a serious felony allegation. Other felony charges related to drunk driving were dropped as part of the plea deal, court records show.
Worthington received 1,676 days of credit on his 11-year prison sentence for time served and good conduct.
