In what has become a familiar ruse, a pair of thieves earlier this month stole a necklace from an elderly woman by distracting her with costume jewelry, according to Palo Alto police.
The victim, a woman in her 80s, on Thursday alerted the police about a theft that occurred 10 days earlier, on Oct. 13. Police said the woman was reportedly walking on the 3500 block of Bryant St., near East Meadow Drive, when a red vehicle with a man and a woman drove past her and parked along the curb.
