VTA Hosts Human Trafficking Conference to Address Rising Local Concerns Ahead of Major Events

On October 29, 2025, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) held a conference on human trafficking. More than 200 people attended, including law enforcement, transit agencies, and advocacy groups from the Bay Area. The event was organized ahead of Super Bowl 60 and FIFA World Cup matches at Levi’s Stadium in 2026. Organizers expect large crowds at these events and are preparing for possible increases in trafficking cases.

VTA Chief System Safety and Security Officer Aston Greene said public transportation can be used in trafficking. Since 2015, VTA has trained frontline workers to identify and report suspicious behavior. This program influenced California AB 2034, which has required similar training for all public transit employees since 2018.
