(KRON) — An hours-long standoff with an armed veterans housing resident in the South Bay Wednesday night was peacefully resolved, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. The man, who was not identified, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm and resisting arrest.

The staff member was able to leave the facility without injury while the suspect, who was not publicly identified, barricaded himself in the building.

Responding crisis negotiators with the sheriff’s office spent hours deescalating the situation before the man was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
