Bay Area driver in 100 mph crash had blood alcohol level 3 times legal limit, police say

A driver with a blood alcohol level almost three times the legal limit has been charged in a 100 mph Newark crash that injured himself and four other people, police said.

Officers responded to a crash involving a sedan and a sport utility vehicle at Cedar Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 31, according to the Newark Police Department. After the crash, the car struck a home on the 5000 block of Lafayette Avenue, police said.

Three occupants of the SUV were injured, and a resident sitting in the family room of the home was also hurt, police said. The victims were treated at local hospitals and are continuing to recover…
