Falling tree crushes CHP cruiser, SUV on Highway 17

(KRON) — A woman from Los Gatos heading south on Highway 17 in a black SUV, and a California Highway Patrol officer heading north, were both hit by a falling tree south of Summit Road near the Santa Clara County border around 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

“Due to weather conditions, a tree located west of southbound [Highway] 17 fell and landed on top of both the Audi and the California Highway Patrol vehicle,” CHP said.

THE CHP cruiser was severely damaged by the tree. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the Audi did not suffer any injuries.
