Court acquits former South Bay youth pastor accused of molesting girls

A former youth pastor accused of molesting two girls when he worked at a San Jose church was acquitted Wednesday by a Santa Clara County jury.Brett Bymaster, 49, was exonerated of all charges in a Morgan Hill courtroom in a verdict handed down by Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Stuart Scott, according to The Mercury News.

Bymaster, a San Jose resident, was arrested in April 2024 after investigators learned he was alleged to have sexually assaulted a minor multiple times between 2013 and 2019 when he worked as a youth pastor at the River Church Community. Early on, Bymaster contested the charges and fervently argued his innocence and even asked for a settlement from the city. On Wednesday, he said in court that “the truth has finally come to light.”“I am grateful that the jury saw past the lies and prevented a miscarriage of justice,” he said…
