San Jose Police Safely Resolve Standoff with Armed Suspect on Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day in San Jose was disrupted by more than just turkey and stuffing as police resolved a tense standoff with an armed suspect. According to the San Jose Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home on the 1400 block of Mt. Whitney Drive after getting reports of a family disturbance involving a convicted felon with a firearm. As per information shared by KRON4, the suspect, who reportedly should not have been at the residence, had barricaded themselves inside a structure behind the house, along with an elderly relative.

The ordeal began to unfold around 9:45 AM yesterday, and officers quickly arrived, managing to rescue the elderly man. Subsequent negotiations led by the special operations unit were successful in convincing the suspect to surrender peacefully. In a social media post later shared by Police Chief Paul Joseph, it was revealed that “Patrol responded to a report of a convicted felon armed with a shotgun inside a structure behind a house.”…
