San José Police Extradite Local Resident from Mexico in Connection with 2021 Homicide on The Woods Drive

On December 2, 2025, San José Police Department (SJPD) detectives extradited Uatesoni Joseph Paasi, a 31-year-old San José resident, from Mexico. Paasi faces murder charges related to a 2021 homicide. The extradition followed a four-year investigation involving law enforcement agencies in the United States and Mexico.

The case began on June 4, 2021. SJPD officers responded to a shooting at 4100 The Woods Drive in San José. They found an adult male victim who had been fatally shot in front of his family during a dispute over a parking space. The suspect, later identified as Paasi, left the country after the incident. The SJPD Homicide Unit led the investigation.

Detectives learned that Paasi had traveled to Mexico. With help from the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and Mexican authorities, he was located and arrested in Rosarito, Mexico, on November 22, 2025.
