Bay Area Secures $272 Million for Affordable Housing and Transit Upgrades Benefiting Local Communities

The California Strategic Growth Council has allocated more than $272 million to the Bay Area for affordable housing and transportation projects. The announcement was made on November 25, 2025. The funding comes from the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program. It will support six new developments and add 846 affordable housing units in San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, Mountain View, and Alameda.

Bay Area projects were among 15 of 42 statewide proposals considered in the ninth round of AHSC awards. The program distributed a total of $835 million across California.
