A driver was killed early Friday when a Tesla veered off northbound Highway 17 in Los Gatos, slammed into a tree and burst into flames, authorities said, marking the second fatal crash on the mountain roadway this week.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. south of Lark Avenue, near the Blossom Hill Road overcrossing, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver was the sole occupant of a Tesla Model 3.
