According to the Milpitas Police Department, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau organized the operation alongside Great Mall security, loss-prevention teams, and the California Highway Patrol Organized Retail Crime Task Force. The department said 17 people were detained on a range of allegations, including theft, drug-related offenses, providing false identification to an officer, outstanding warrants, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Investigators reported that about $3,200 in stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to stores.
