West Contra Costa Unified, Pinole approve ‘ICE-free zones’

The West Contra Costa Unified School District and the city of Pinole have approved measures to become the Bay Area’s second and third “ICE-free zones” that prohibit agents from staging on public property, the Mercury News reported.

“You belong here, and you deserve to feel safe,” said Pinole Councilmember Cameron Sasai in a statement, according to the Mercury News. “People cannot thrive when they are living in a state of constant fear.”
