Suspect in IHOP killing drives to Bay Area police station and shoots himself

The man authorities believe was responsible for the fatal shooting of an IHOP employee in Richmond drove to a Bay Area police station Tuesday evening where he shot and critically wounded himself, police said.

The shooting occurred outside the San Pablo Police Department and was related to Monday’s homicide at a Richmond IHOP, where an employee was killed while working in the restaurant’s kitchen, according to Richmond police.

“Through diligent investigative efforts, detectives identified a person of interest in this homicide,” Richmond police Lt. Donald Patchin said in a statement. “The person of interest, who is not being identified at this time, is a coworker of the victim and a resident of San Pablo.”…
