San José authorities are currently investigating a traffic incident that resulted in a pedestrian fatality back in December, marking the city’s 39th such incident in 2025. This latest casualty also represents the 20th pedestrian to lose their lives on the streets of San José last year.
According to a press release from the San José Police Department (SJPD), on December 7, 2025, a traffic collision occurred at approximately 4:13 PM at the intersection of Cataldi Drive and Camargo Drive. An adult male pedestrian, who was walking westbound on Cataldi Drive and outside of any marked crosswalk, was struck by a 2007 Nissan Altima. An adult female was driving the vehicle.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but was later stabilized. However, the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner notified SJPD detectives today that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead last Saturday.
