(KRON) — The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to solve a cold case dating back 28 years.
ACSO said on Jan 4. 1998, at 7:55 p.m., Samuel Canaday, 57, was found dead on the center divider of E. 14th Street near 168th Avenue in unincorporated San Leandro.
“Witnesses stated that earlier, Samuel had a verbal altercation with an unknown black male outside of the Corner House restaurant,” said the sheriff’s office in a social media post. “Following the argument, Samuel entered the restaurant and the other male left. Samuel left the restaurant around 5:30 p.m.”
Canaday was last seen leaving a trailer park on 168th Avenue at 7:50 p.m., according to ACSO. He was reportedly carrying a toolbox walking along E. 14th Street just before his body was discovered five minutes later…
