Santa Clara County Main Jail Cracks Down on Inmate Drug Smuggling

An alert from inside the walls of the County of Santa Clara Main Jail led to the discovery of illegal drugs secreted away in the cells and on the person of an inmate, per a social media post by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search and found handmade cigarettes with the unmistakable stink of marijuana, a small cache of white powder, and a clutch of what appeared to be THC in the form of an orange/brown substance.

Continuing their search, a body scan threw into stark relief the lengths to which individuals will go to smuggle contraband into the facility, revealing an assortment of bindles of white powder, THC concentrate, among other unidentified narcotics hidden upon one individual, the deputies demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the search while maintaining the safety of all the facility’s inhabitants, sometimes the thoroughness of such searches gets drugs off the street that might have otherwise caused harm…
