(KRON) — A driver who allegedly lied about being the victim of a carjacking has died of injuries suffered in a hit and run accident last November, according to the San Jose Police Department. SJPD responded at around 7:18 p.m. on Nov. 22, 2025, to the 900 block of Summerside Drive on a report of a hit and run.
The investigation, according to police, determined that a 1987 Toyota Odyssey occupied by an unknown driver was traveling east on Summerside when it crashed into multiple unoccupied vehicles. The driver fled the scene prior to police arriving.

SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives launched an extensive investigation. It was discovered that one day earlier, on Nov. 24, 2025, SJPD responded to an area hospital for a report of a carjacking.
The reporter, an adult male patient, told police he was the registered owner of the Odyssey RV and that it was stolen during a violent carjacking, resulting in head and chest injuries. The man later succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital…
