Missing San Jose State student found dead at Northstar ski resort

A San Jose State University student was found dead at Northstar California Resort on Thursday, marking the third skier killed in two weeks at the Tahoe ski slope.

Colin Kang, 21, went skiing around noon on Tuesday, according to a social media post from the SJSU Ski and Snowboard team. He was last seen near the Martis Camp Express, the post said, a ski lift which connects to the expert-level Sugar Pine Glade trail, where his body was found.

The Sierra has been battered by snowstorms this week, raising the risk of avalanches in the backcountry. A large avalanche struck a group of 15 skiers near Truckee on Tuesday, killing eight. Kang was not part of that group…
