Silicon Valley engineers indicted for alleged trade secret theft from Google

SAN JOSE, California — Three engineers from San Jose have been indicted on charges of conspiring to commit trade secret theft from Google and other tech companies, according to a federal grand jury.

Samaneh Ghandali, 41, Mohammadjavad Khosravi, 40, and Soroor Ghandali, 32, all of San Jose, were arrested and appeared in federal district court, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California announced. The indictment alleges the defendants used their employment at leading technology firms to access and exfiltrate confidential information, including trade secrets related to processor security and cryptography, to unauthorized locations, including Iran.

“As alleged, the defendants exploited their positions to steal confidential trade secrets from their employers,” said United States Attorney Craig H. Missakian. The indictment further claims the defendants submitted false affidavits and destroyed records to conceal their actions…
