2-alarm fire at Campbell apartments displaces 60, destroys 3 vehicles

A two-alarm fire that began in a carport Monday afternoon at a Campbell apartment complex destroyed three vehicles, damaged multiple units and displaced about 60 residents, authorities said.

The fire was reported at approximately 12:58 p.m. on the 400 block of Kuehnis Drive, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department. Crews contained the blaze at about 1:46 p.m., preventing it from spreading into nearby apartments.

“What began as a carport fire at approximately 12:58 PM was successfully contained by firefighters before it could breach the interior of the nearby apartment units,” the department said in a statement. “While the fire destroyed three vehicles, the quick work of our firefighters prevented further structural loss.”…
