Fremont adopts Shelter Crisis Declaration

The City of Fremont has adopted a Shelter Crisis Declaration on March 10 to expand its ability to quickly create emergency housing for people experiencing homelessness. The declaration was approved unanimously by the Fremont City Council and takes effect immediately.

This action will support the development of a 150-unit emergency shelter for medically frail and older adults at the Motel 6 site in South Fremont, doubling the city’s current shelter capacity.
