Sobriety checkpoint on Mathilda Ave April 11

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety will run a safety and sobriety checkpoint on April 11, 2026. The checkpoint will be on Mathilda Avenue between San Aleso Avenue and W Maude Avenue. It will operate from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m..

Officers will stop some northbound vehicles to check for impaired driving, seatbelt use, and valid licenses. The goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving and to keep the community safe. The program is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
