South San Jose Garage Blaze Jams Street, Firefighters Snuff It Fast

Yesterday’s garage fire on the 5100 block of Severance Court in South San José sent firefighters racing into the neighborhood, briefly tangling traffic before crews knocked the flames down in about half an hour. Everyone inside the home got out, and firefighters quickly shifted into overhaul to chase lingering hot spots. Officials have not yet said what sparked the blaze.

Fast Knockdown After First Alarm Call

According to an update from the San José Fire Department, the call came in at about 8:32 PM, triggering a full first-alarm assignment to the structure on Severance Court. Crews reported the fire was knocked down at 8:59 PM, then pivoted to overhaul to make sure no hidden embers remained. Traffic in the immediate area was affected while firefighters worked, and the department noted that all occupants had evacuated the structure as operations continued.
