(KRON) — A man who was crossing a road in South San Jose on Saturday night was killed after being struck by an alleged drunk driver, according to police.
The driver of a 2008 Toyota sedan was heading southbound on Almaden Expressway south of San Jose Avenue at 9:45 p.m. when he struck a man in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk, the San Jose Police Department said Monday. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The driver remained on scene and displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication,” police wrote.
The driver, who was not identified, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of DUI.
