(KRON) — A man who shot a Mountain View Police Department officer at point-blank range during a traffic stop was found guilty of attempted murder on Wednesday, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Jeffrey Choy, 37, of Union City, faces life in prison for the July 16, 2022, shooting, according to prosecutors.
Officer Raymond Clutter was working an overtime DUI enforcement shift in downtown Mountain View on the night of the shooting. Just after midnight, Officer Clutter stopped Choy, who was driving a Ford Explorer and had run a stop sign near Villa and Hope streets, prosecutors said.
Choy was a convicted felon at the time of the stop and was prohibited from having any weapons. He had been caught possessing a gun during a traffic stop months earlier and was out on bail with an active arrest warrant in that case, according to the DA’s office…
