San José’s Alum Rock Park is open, but weekend drivers should plan for a narrower approach than many longtime visitors remember.
The city park at 15350 Penitencia Creek Road is open Tuesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to one-half hour after sunset, and closed Mondays. Its Penitencia Creek Road entrance is the vehicle route into the park.
The Alum Rock Avenue entrance was closed to vehicles in 2000 because of a landslide, though it remains open to people walking, biking or riding horses.
