Thousands without power after semi truck damaged in San Jose

(KRON) — A semi truck has a damaged axle and was at risk of rolling over in the area of S 1st Street and E Alma Avenue, according to the San Jose Fire Department. Crews received a call at 9:25 a.m. on Thursday.

The damaged truck — which is carrying about 78,000 pounds of scrap metal — has caused PG&E to shut off power for thousands of customers. About 7,000 customers are affected by the PG&E power shutoffs.

Power is expected to be down for at least three hours. The Sacred Heart Community Service building, a nearby building, was evacuated as a precaution, SJFD said…
