A quiet residential area in the 7600 block of Haven Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga was shaken on Sunday, January 28, as the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to a distressing incident of attempted murder.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., deputies rushed to the scene following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered a 76-year-old female victim who had suffered multiple stab wounds, law enforcement said. Acting swiftly, deputies administered preliminary lifesaving measures until emergency medical services arrived at the location.

The victim was subsequently transported to a regional trauma center in stable but critical condition. Thankfully, her injuries are expected to be survivable, as medical professionals continue to provide care, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The investigation led authorities to identify the suspect as 35-year-old Deborah Esteen-Jordan, a cohabitant of the victim, deputies said.

According to deputies, Esteen-Jordan allegedly attacked the victim with a kitchen knife, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
