Reno, NV – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and dangerous travel conditions to the Sierra Nevada region beginning Tuesday evening, with impacts expected through Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Mono County, the Greater Lake Tahoe Area, and Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties. The storm is expected to deliver up to 2 to 3 feet of snow along the Sierra crest, while Sierra communities could see 12 to 18 inches. Strong winds reaching 70 mph may cause whiteout conditions and damage trees and power lines.
