66-Year-Old Man Dead After Driving Under Railroad Barriers And Being Struck By Train

A California man is dead after he was struck by a passenger train Thursday night, authorities said.

The Orange Police Department said officers responded to a reported collision at the intersection of Glassell Street and Taft Avenue at around 7 p.m. Thursday. They arrived to find a 66-year-old man had driven his Jeep SUV under the railroad crossing arms and was struck by a train.

The Orange City Fire Department used heavy rescue equipment to extricate the driver, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He later died of his injuries, police said. The driver, from Garden Grove, was the only occupant of the vehicle…
