Four-thousand-gallon Costa Mesa sewage spill closes parts of Newport Beach’s waters south of Santa Ana River

A sewage spill at the Talbert Channel was reported early Saturday morning (May 3) resulting in the closure of ocean waters in Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. According to Orange County Supervisor’s Vice Chair Katrina Foley, “The leak has since been resolved.” However, some sewage entered the ocean at the mouth of the Santa Ana River, resulting in closures of 2,000 feet north and south of the channel.
