This week, Anaheim approved three permits filed by Disney for the demolition of the former La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney District and two nearby Disneyland Resort ticket booths. The new Porto’s Bakery will be constructed in the space.
La Brea Bakery & Ticket Booth Demolition
Permits BLD2025-01762, 01763, and 01764 were all filed on April 10, 2025, but not issued until December 8, 2025. They all expire on December 8, 2026.
Permit 01762 is for the demolition of the 2,610 square foot La Brea Bakery building, with utilities to be capped and the foundation to be removed. La Brea Bakery closed permanently in 2023. The temporary Earl of Sandwich and table-service Earl of Sandwich Tavern opened in the space soon after and remained for over two years as construction was continually delayed.
The other two permits address ticket booths #7 and #8, both 865 square feet. The descriptions similarly state utilities will be capped and the foundations will be removed.
The ticket booths closed in early November. They are the closest booths on the Disneyland Esplanade to the entrance of Downtown Disney District, as seen in the screenshot from Google Maps above. The unlabeled building with a brown roof near the bottom of the image is the La Brea Bakery building.
